What is box compression test for?

A carton compression test is used to check the compressive strength of a piece of cardboard which has been cut and shaped into boxes. A carton compression tester is used to check the strength of cardboard.

You need a carton compression tester to do this test. This is an example of a test performed to check the strength of the material which is in a box or corrugated sheet. The machine measures the load required to compress the cartons to 50% of its original height.

For the test, you must place a sheet of cardboard on the Box Compression Tester machine’s base plate. The sheet of cardboard should be placed over the machine’s test head. You must then press down with your hands until the bottom edge of the box is compressed down to the bottom of the base plate. When the test is finished, you will need to remove the sheet of cardboard from the machine.

After the test, you can see that the load is measured on a scale. After you know the weight of the sheet of cardboard, you will need to calculate the strength or the compression strength of the cardboard. The formula for calculating the compressive strength is shown here:
